Somebody was there…

Heart felt story in memory of my uncle Dave Heagy

* IN DESPAIR AT THE STATE FAIR *

My uncle Dave was amazing! He lived what he believed and never made enemies. He was the best man with the Greatest Attitude!

If we’re lucky we all have known and have been someone to help pull another through. It is times like we are all experiencing now that we need to remember the power we have in the lives of others.

It has been just about 3 years since Uncle Dave moved on and I wanted to share a story that I’ve never shared before.

Uncle Dave was my example of how to live in this world with excited enthusiasm and encouragement. He actively engaged himself in my life and never gave up on me no matter what I did.

Dave lived the truest Christ like example, love without limitations or judgment. Just being around my uncle made you want to live a better life. I greatly miss this man of integrity.

Uncle showed up on many occasions always with ideas to help me work my way out of moments of despair. He saw my potential and guided my thinking toward new opportunities. His life was an example of true ministry. That of hope, passion and great purpose.

He was there if I needed a man to man pep talk and he would show up in a heartbeat to celebrate my life and accomplishments. He was always that guy for me.

When I was going through a difficult time in my life, I spent a whole week with him. I ended up calling that time; in despair at the State Fair.

It started with me calling him up and sharing how I was supposed to go to the State Fair and mouth paint in front of everyone. I explained how much I did not want to go. He said he understood but that I should go and that he would be there with me.

I mean, wow for real! I’m seriously depressed and feel like I’m about to die, yet Uncle Dave and my Aunt Barb drove from Bend in the motor home and parked at my house.

Each day of the fair Uncle would Drive me, set me up, feed me, adjust me in my chair and empty my Pee bag. He was the salesman, display man, clean up man and caregiver.

As I painted in front of hundreds of people passing by, he made me look like an absolute ROCKSTAR. He did this even though he knew I was at the lowest time of my life. I was experiencing deep emotional pain, yet he stood by me in my darkest hours of depression.

My uncle saved my life that week by just being with me. Standing next to me while I was in misery. It was the most God like time of my life and even though it took a few years to work out my problems it was that week with my Uncle Dave that kept me from giving up!

Thank you, Lord, for giving me the opportunity to know and love this beautiful soul the man, my Uncle, David Heagy. I miss you dearly!
